Aussie Bush Christmas Card | Couture Creations

#kerriegurney #couturecreationsaus

Hello Everyone Kerrie here ... here we are at the end of November already!!! ..how did that happen?

I am here today to share with you a card I created for Couture Creations Blog using a mix of collections to create an Aussie Bush Christmas card ...something a bit different to the normal Christmas card, but super quick to create which is what we all love at Christmas time especially so we can mass produce cards.

Onto the tutorial

Start off by embossing the front your card front
(Did you know Couture Creations Embossing Folders are perfect for embossing whole card fronts as the folder is cut smaller on the embossed side so you don't get any dead spots)

next lightly sand the embossed front so your embossed pattern pops ( I have used Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock, this is one of my favs)

cut a couple of pennants from Hearts Ease patterned papers
Distress and ink the edges of both pennants along with the card front

next up cut your diecuts, I have used these two from Couture Creations
(This Large Winter Tree die is also perfect for cutting up and using as foliage behind flowers so a must have die for your collection )

don't forget to use Quick Release die paper to stop the cardstock and patterned paper sticking into the die

lightly sand the edges of the reindeer to give more character

Ink the edges of the reindeer and ink the leaves and trunk randomly on the tree to give light and dark appearance making the tree look more natural
then adhere both to card front using foam mounting tape,
For the tree only place foam tape to the trunk so the leaves are free
To finish off fluff the leaves, antlers and legs to give life to the tree and reindeer. Nobody likes  lifeless trees and reindeer

Layer everything onto your embossed card front

a closer look at the leaves and reindeer with the leaves and antlers fluffed up
add some gemstones to the baubles hanging from the reindeer antlers

and there you have an Aussie bush chrissy card
and here is another version I created

this one doesn't even have to be for Christmas, it would work as a fabulous male birthday card

White Christmas Forest

#kerriegurney #couturecreationsaus

Hi everyone
I am back on the Couture Creations Blog today this time sharing a layout I created using a photo of my White Christmas Tree Forest from last year

Instead of having just one Christmas Tree I love to create a forest for Christmas and last year I decided I wanted all white trees decorated with gold ornaments and I loved it so much.
It doesn't photograph all that well but hey it looked spectacular so much so I am sticking with it again for this year although I am toying with adding another colour

anyway enough about that lets get to creating this clean and simple layout
I wanted to keep it quite plain as I really wanted my forest to shine

to start I cut a strip of White Ultimate Craft Cardstock, I place a strip of  12mm double sided tape and  2 strips of 6mm double sided tape down the center of the white strip

Pull the backing paper off all strips

and sprinkle with ultra fine gold glitter, tip off excess and return to jar

I then die cut 1 x Fans of Fantasia die from white cardstock, 2 x Holly Branch die from white glitter carstock and embossed a piece of white cardstock and a small piece of gold foil using  Mistletoe Magic embossing folder
I have also used a strip of  corrugated card and two strips of white glitter cardstock which I have created pennants with.
I distressed all the edges of the pieces and
then it is just a mater of layering all the pieces onto the base card.

Here are some closeups of the layering

Craft & Quilt Fair Adelaide

#kerriegurney

Today I head south to Adelaide for the last Craft & Quilt Fair for 2015

What an amazing year I have had with Expertise Events and the Craft & Quilt Fair
I thank Judy, Gary and their amazing staff so much for this amazing opportunity I have loved every minute of it and you have all been so fabulous to me.
Meeting so many crafters all over Australia and New Zealand has cetainly been a huge highlight and also spending time with all the hardworking Exhibitors I really am in awe of all the hard work they put into travelling around and setting up their beautiful stands. It is not an easy life on the road but it is a life they love as they love sharing their passion with you all.
Thanks too to Gary for the delicious cake in NZ
I will be so sad to leave at the end of this show as I will miss my "show family" next year.

If you are in Adelaide please pop by and say Hello and if you have time book into one of my Christmas Card Make & Take Classes they are just $5 with everything is included
