Cousins | Couture Creations

#kerriegurney #couturecreationsaus

Hi Everyone
Kerrie here and I am back with a layout I created for Couture Creations Blog
using the soon to be released Couture Creations Secret Garden Dies along with my favourite die from the Background Savvy Collection Evergreen, I love love love this die it is just so versatile.

ok lets get started

start by arranging the Evergreen diecuts ...these are ones I had from demonstrating at the Craft & Quilt Fair, You don't have to worry about what colour they are or if they are perfectly cut as you are going to be using them for texture.

next scrap on a thin layer of Gesso where your diecuts will go and layer them ontop

then apply more Gesso covering the diecuts up, but allowing the texture to show through. Then while the Gesso is still wet spray with a mix of sprays. I have used Green,  Peachy and Gold colours.
You can mix the spray in with the Gesso to make it less stark white
dry off using a heat tool

I then sprayed some Couture Creations White Flowers, some seam binding ribbon and Muslin using the green spray with a touch of gold over the top.
Dry with a heat tool

now it is time to die cut your dies, I laid them all on the plate and cut them all at once, I placed a piece of brown cardstock over the fence and then layers the green patterned paper over them all and run them through my die cutting machine

as you can see I cut off the side of my tree but all was good as that side was going under my photo
I ended up cutting another fence in brown cardstock and not using the green diecut fence

now it is time to layer everything on your page and when you are happy with your placement glue everything in place using the Turbo Glue Pen, it is brilliant for adhering diecuts and flowers

you can see here how I have layered the photo ontop of the right side of the tree branches

a closer look at the textured background

finish off by applying some Crystalina Glitzin' Glamour Glitter Glue onto your diecuts

I hope I have inspired you and that you have enjoyed my tutorial and please if you recreate my layout please share your layout on the Couture Creations Facebook page as we love to see what you create.

Birthday Girls

#kerriegurney

Hi Everyone

with only 1 week until it is spring here in Australia I thought I would share this flower laden layout I created.

I have used Couture Creations Hearts Ease patterned paper along with the Background Savvy Diffused and Secret Garden Layered Bloom dies

Using canvas I diecut the Layered Bloom die 4 times, then I sprayed them with a purple mist giving them all a scrunch to shabby them up.

I also coloured the daisy trim with purple mist and then layered everything on.

thanks for popping by

Craft & Quilt Fair Recap | Canberra

#kerriegurney #craftandquiltfair

Well after having a relaxing couple of weeks since returning from Canberra I thought I had better share some highlights from my time in Canberra before I head off again.

Camberra was lovely and while it was cold I was indoors for most of  time in Canberra so really it was only the first day that I felt the cold as it was rainy and windy, the rest of the time it was ok.
I took two coats thinking I would need them but only wore one :)

I am having such a fabulous time travelling with the Craft & Quilt Fair and cannot thank Expertise Events enough for this amazing experience.
If you have a store in any city they have events please think about exhibiting with them as it is fantastic exposure and  all businesses need more of exposure to new customers in today's economic climate. You would be surprised how many people come up to me saying they don't know where their local papercrafting store is and having a local store at an event is such an advantage for them.

Here are some photos from my time in Canberra I have more on Instagram

before checking in at the domestic terminal we stopped in for breakfast at the International terminal so we could catch up with my niece who was flying in for the day from Dubai

time to set up and it was freezing ..seriously freezing as all the doors were open to allow everyone to bring in their pallets and boxes ...my feet were frozen to the bone

all done

now some sightseeing with Denise, sadly we forgot to get a photo together, but we had a lovely afternoon and night

alongside Lake Burley Griffin looking back at Black Mountain Tower... it looks cold and it was it was windy and rainy not a great combination in a Canberra winter

Denise took me to dinner at my favourite restaurant Jamie's Italian ...I am now proud to say I  have eaten in every Jamie's Italian in Australia ...Jamie Oliver I would like a certificate please

how good does that Lemon Meringue look

Gary and some of the exhibitors getting their groove on before the show opens, you can see just part of the line up ..these Canberrians are dedicated to their craft

me standing on the street waiting for my ride with Svenja and Matt ...doesn't the cold give you a nice glow :)

yes it was cold

and foggy

don't you just love Svenja's shoes (a huge thank you to both Svenja and Matt for giving me a lift each day)

I snuck in a card class at Wrapped in Paper after the show, thanks so much to Gail, Pat & Sue for having me and to Edith for organising it very last minute, nothing like a days notice for a class thanks so much for everyone who came along.

after the class I went for a wander down the road to Cockington Green

love this sculpture across the road from Wrapped in Paper they are in Gold Creek if you are living or visiting Canberra ...awesome store filled to the brim with papercrafting goodness

I didn't get to Parliament or the War Memorial but had a fabulous time in Canberra, we had alot more bonding this time with lots of laughs and it was lovely catching up with my Canberrian friends
until next time Canberra

Next stop on my Craft & Quilt Fair tour is
Hamilton NZ
and then
Christchurch NZ

Please pop by and say hello if you are in the North or South Island
I am super excited to be coming over to share my love of all things papercrafting

Napoleon & I | Couture Creations

#kerriegurney  #couturecreationsaus

Hi Everyone
Kerrie here back with a layout I created for the Couture Creations Blog using the gorgeous Vintage Rose Garden papers along with the Evergreen Die from the Background Savvy collection ...this has to be my favourite  and go to die at the moment.
I just love how versatile it is
I love this photo of Napoleon and I taken when Mum and I visited Eagle Encounters at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch South Africa, isn't he gorgeous

I started by die cutting the Evergreen Die using white cardstock and then used the die cut as a stencil and applied green glitter paste randomly on my base page

then I set the page aside to dry (you can hit it with the heat tool if you don't have time to wait)
I then die cut a couple more of the Evergreen this time using green patterned paper from the Vintage Rose Garden paper collection, I also die cut 1 x Daffodil Spray

I then cut around the clock face on the bottom left of my page so that my photo would slip in behind the clock

I cut a mat for my photo from the patterned paper and then layered everything on
Inking and distressing all the edges
I also coloured the Cottage Pollen Flower to match the paper
Finish off with a sprinkling of pearls

Scrap with scraps Layout

#kerriegurney

just popping in with a super quick layout I created at the Craft & Quilt Fair in Melbourne
using up some Couture Creations diecuts I cut while demonstrating along with some embossed scraps.
I have also used The Craft Spot's Hessian, Wooden Hearts & Pearls and some flowers
(you can purchase these up at the shows)

i just randomly layered the diecuts and embossed pieces onto the hessian, as you can see they were just scrap pieces from demonstrating with some being inked and some pieces not even fully embossed
This is a great way to use up bits and pieces that you die cut or emboss

see you in Canberra this Thursday - Sunday

book in early for one of my Make & Take Classes
