Happy Christmas | Couture Creations

#kerriegurney

Hi everyone Kerrie here and  I am back with another Christmas Layout I created for Couture Creations Blog featuring the 2014 Couture Creations Christmas Dies and Embossing Folders.
I am so loving these new collections and can't wait for them to be available so I can purchase them all.

My layout today features photos that I love of Taylah and her furry best friend Cadbury clowning around on Christmas morning. Not the greatest photos but photos that need to be documented and cherished.
Now people who know me well know I am all about coordination for Christmas, I do change my theme alot and all gifts must be wrapped in the correct colour or they can't go under my tree (if we are given a gift that doesn't match I have bags in the correct colour for the gift to go in)
My theme for 2012 was Black, Red, White/Cream, Kraft  so these are the colours I have used on my layout, but i have added a smidge of gold as I am having a gold moment  (yes my tree in the photo is black, I actually have about 10 big trees and I don't know how many mini trees)

Here is a look at the  Couture Creations dies and embossing folder I have used on my layout.

I started off by creating my background using the Holly Branch Flourish as a mask

Just move the die around and randomly mist, you don't need to worry about the centre as it will be covered up.

Emboss photo mat and pennant using Twiggy Christmas Embossing Folder and lightly sand to reveal core colour. Once again i have distress the edges of all cardstock and patterned paper using my scissors.

Die cut 1 of the Simplicity Lace Border dies from Core'dinations Kings Crown Gold Glittersilk Cardstock, remember you don't have to have extended plates for your machine to die cut these long borders.
Just run through one half and then gentle move the other half forward onto the cutting plate and run through.
(don't use quick release die paper when doing this as the release paper works so well that your die will pop out and move creating a double cut)
Normally I would tell you to die cut glittered cardstock from the back but the step shows up better in the photo cutting with the glittered side down. Cutting from the back on intricate dies cuts through more cleanly and easily. I would also suggest using a metal adapter plate when die cutting intricate dies using glittered cardstock .

Cut the border strip down to the size of your photo mat and then cut in half through the middle as you are going to tuck the border in under the layers

Die cut 2 x Christmas Lace Border, join together and cut off excess, as you can see by the photo you can't see where I have joined the lace border.

Use the excess piece of lace border to add to the top left corner cluster. When you are distressing the edges of the base cardstock tear a section to create a V shaped peep section adhere lace border piece to the back of base card. Finish off cluster with a piece of the simplicity border a gold jingle bell and some gold twine.

I popped a journaling tag inside the chevron paper bag, which I embellished using another piece of the Simplicity Lace Border, another jingle bell and gold twine bow.
I sprayed the chevron bag with Walnut Ink as it was a very bright Red and White and was just too stark for my layout. I love the look Walnut Ink gives ageing things perfectly.

Here are a few close up photos of my layout.
I left the Imaginarium Designs Chipboard title natural as it worked with my layout.

December 25th | Couture Creations

#kerriegurney

Hello everyone today is day 1 of Couture Creations Christmas In July
each day for the next 2 weeks on the Couture Creations Blog the Design Team are inspiring you with Christmas projects featuring the Couture Creations 2014 Christmas Dies and Embossing Folders
All collections will be available the beginning of September.  Stores can pre order now from the Couture Creations Distributor in your country and consumers you too can preorder from your local store.
All collections are limited edition, once they gone they are gone for good, so pre order NOW so you don't miss out.

Ok onto my layout it is another simple layout but I show you how you can create a layout with lots of texture using Couture Creations Dies, Embossing folders a couple of sheets of patterned paper and some Core'dinations Cardstock

To create the embossed strip across the middle of the page, cut a 2" x 12" strip of Red Core'dinations Cardstock and run it through the Mini Poinsettia Embossing Folder, moving the strip through the centre slit on the folder

Tip - when you are running the second half of the strip through make sure the edge of the embossing folder is off the edge of the acrylic plate, this way you won't flatten the area where the embossed sections meet.
see on this photo how the flat area of the folder is over the edge of the acrylic plate.

Lightly sand the strip to reveal the core colour adding some texture to your page

Die cut 2 x Holly Branch Flourish using the Quick Release Die Paper

Die Cut a set of bows from the Bow Tie Set using red Core'dinations cardstock and a piece a patterned paper for the centre

Emboss all bow pieces using Christmas Vineyard Embossing Folder

Lightly sand all pieces using Couture Creations Sanding Block to reveal core colour

Distress the edges of all paper and cardstock using Pointed Non Stick Scissors again this give your layout some texture.
Start to layer your page with the two base pieces of patterned paper and the Mini Poinsettia embossed strip.
Next run a strip of Couture Creations 12mm Double Sided Tape along either side of the embossed strip

Remove backing paper and sprinkle glitter tinsel on both strips.

 Tap off excess tinsel

Create pennants and assemble layout
add some Red Lust Gemstones to finish off

here are some close ups to show the details
